What Does the UN Say?
IPBES stands for Intergovernmental Panel of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services and is the UN panel that compiles knowledge on the state of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
The corresponding UN panel for climate is the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change).
In 2019, IPBES presented a groundbreaking report on the state of the world’s biodiversity and ecosystem services, which has been an important eye-opener for policymakers worldwide.
